It was a fairly small group again this fortnight. Ever-increasing numbers of people in isolation as a result of covid is taking its toll. It’s not all doom and gloom though, for those who were in attendance it was a great morning of business referrals, support, collaboration, education, and Chair Yoga!

Maria from Parnita’s Yoga has been a member of RBS for a long time, and after hearing so many good things about her classes we convinced her to take us through a short demonstration session.

And that’s how it came to pass that at 7:15 on an otherwise normal workday, 15 people were sitting in their chairs with their hands above their heads. I should have jumped up and taken a photo but was feeling relaxed so quickly I didn’t even think about it, it looked a bit like this…

Maria guided us through about 20 minutes of stretches and breathing exercises anyone can do whilst at work and stuck at their desk. I’ve made a point of trying to do it myself each day since and I feel much better for it. A lot less sore around the shoulders after a full day at the computer.

After our morning Yoga session, breakfast was served by the great staff from the Hotel Clipper and discussion returned to more of our normal routine. Referrals were shared for work and potential new clients, and a short group discussion on the impact of negative online reviews. Everyone has their own opinion regarding online reviews, but it can’t be denied they can make or break a business’s reputation.

Some shared their belief that negative reviews should be ignored, others said it was an opportunity to engage with a dissatisfied customer. Everyone agreed though that online reviews can influence whether or not people choose to do business with us and therefore it’s important we have a policy in place in our businesses as to how we’ll manage them. That will definitely be a topic for a future RBS Breakfast Club presentation.

We’re still on the lookout for new members, so if you or anyone you know runs their own business in or around the Rockingham area, please send them our direction. Doesn’t matter if it’s a home-based business, or employs dozens of people. The members of RBS come from a variety of backgrounds, industries, and business sizes. That’s what makes the advice, ideas, brainstorming, and collaboration so successful.

There’s a button at the top of the screen to call us, and there are buttons at the top of this article to share it either on social media or directly with someone you think would benefit from reading it.
